Based on observation, there are different types of clowns that you can hire to liven up your kid's birthday party. However, some fastfoods that cater to such needs will provide mascots for free provided you choose a certain range or offer. Anyway, should you choose to prepare the food, you can always hire the services of clowns. In our locality I have noticed two groups of clowns which give different types of services. The first group have clowns who do everything---hosting and entertaining the kids with magic and games. There are two clowns in this first group, one of the clowns does the hosting and leads in the overall flow of events while the second one acts as assistant. Both are females. The second team also has two male clowns whose task is only to entertain the kids with dancing, magic, and games. Another person, who acts as the overall leader, does the hosting. In other words, the clowns are only there to clown around. No one hears a single word from them but they dance, bounce, do tricks and the like.

We compared the two groups and personally preferred the latter. Clowns are more credible when they stick to clowning but if they also function as host, it sort of diminishes their credibility and takes out much of the fun.

When we attend formal gatherings we are expected to be at our very best in clothes, words and deed. Earlier, we have gone through some of the things to do and avoid while at such gatherings. My dear boys and girls, when at parties where adults are also invited, make sure that you avoid talking loudly or shouting. When you have a message to tell a friend across the hall, go up to him or her and not shout out the message. That's a no-no. This also holds true about laughing. It is rude to laugh loudly while at a gatheing. Show your breeding while maintaining conversation with friends or other guests. Greet everyone with a smile and use the following words or expressions that exhibit good manners.

Good evening, ma'am/sir. (to those older than you) Otherwise, just say "Good evening" to everyone.

Thank you. (after a favor has been done to you like being served something)

Please. (when asked if you want something and you want to say yes)

Excuse me. (when you want to call the attention of someone )

You're welcome or It's a pleasure. (when someone says "Thank you" because you've done her or him a favor)

I am sorry. (when you have wronged someone like when you step on someone's shoes)

May I.......Could you please.........(in asking for favor)

Choosing the right and the most appropriate title for this blog wasn't easy. I tried eight titles and they were all rejected because they are already taken. That means there are 8 other blogs on this subject (there could be more) and I probably came at the right time when people give their children's birthdays some fun and meaning. Having raised two kids of my own and having a 4-year-old kid in the house have all given me the inspiration to pursue this path. I have two other blogs to update but I just do not know why the idea of having a blog on kids' parties made me stop everything that I was doing in order to start this.

Our children are the most wonderful gifts we have received from the heavens. When they came into our lives everything had changed---our lifestyle and priorities and our dreams now include them. We have their welfare on top of our list of priorities. They give us so much joy and reason to live and work the way we do.

However, they will not remain children forever. In fact, childhood happens so swiftly that before we know it, it's gone.

That is why childhood is worth celebrating. Parents crack their heads worrying about ways of celebrating their children's birthdays in the most meaningful and yet not-so-costly way.

Is this possible in this world of rising prices?
